So last class I brought up the topic of a state school in conflict with their state representatives over the school showing an adult movie on campus. The school is the University of Maryland and despite threats by a state legislator they went on to show the movie this past weekend on campus.

This is fascinating, Caitlin.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you come down on this debate?

I believe that if the school's students are open to this type of film then it should be shown. I believe that as soon as we let the threat of loosing funding become a reality we are on a real slippery slope. If state schools can loose funding for showing an adult movie, what is next? I believe that this debate is centered and focused on our first amendment rights and that the film should be shown to students who are over 18.
